How to Place the SiteVisitor Pixel

The pixel is critical to resolving the identity of your site's visitors. Placing the pixel is a straightforward process, though it does require some understanding of how your website is built (a CMS vs. WordPress) and how to place custom code on the site.

Most CMS platforms have a tool that allows you to place custom code on the site. You would use this tool to place a Google Analytics pixel, FaceBook analytics pixel, or Google Tag Manager. It is also used to place our pixel. Simply copy the code you can find on the "Setup" tab on your campaign's dashboard. For the best functionality, the pixel should be placed above the closing  </body>  tag on each page you wish to track. Most CMS platforms allow you to select where you would like to place the custom code within its tool.

For sites built on WordPress, multiple options are available to place the pixel. For companies comfortable with managing the site themselves, they can add the pixel themselves above the closing </body> tag. You can also download a header/footer widget which will allow you to use the widget to place the code in the footer. There are several free versions of these and we do not have one we recommend over another.
